Advanced heart failure, VAD and heart transplant care
Advanced heart failure is a complex condition managed by a highly specialized care team with experience in medical therapies, ventricular assist devices (VADs) and heart transplant surgery.
Ascension Seton Medical Center Austin is certified by The Joint Commission for its Ventricular Assist Device Program and holds Heart Transplant certification from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

Cardiac Amyloidosis
Amyloidosis is a rare condition that can affect multiple organs, including the heart. Our team—featuring advanced heart failure cardiologists, neurologists, medical geneticists and oncologists—provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment for AL amyloidosis and both hereditary and non-hereditary transthyretin amyloidosis (ATTR).
Treatment options include stabilizing medications, gene-silencing therapies and heart transplant. Our clinic also participates in ongoing clinical trials to offer access to emerging therapies.
Cardiogenetics
We provide specialized cardiovascular evaluation and management for patients and families with inherited cardiovascular, muscular or metabolic conditions. Our cardiogenetics services include access to a medical genetics counselor and specialists in rare cardiomyopathies and advanced heart failure.
Cardiac Sarcoidosis
Working in collaboration with local pulmonologists and rheumatologists, our clinic provides coordinated evaluation, diagnosis and treatment for pulmonary sarcoidosis, isolated cardiac sarcoidosis and multisystem sarcoidosis.
Pericardial Disease
Our specialists diagnose and treat acute, subacute and chronic pericarditis. Treatment plans may include standard therapies and advanced options such as IL-1 inhibitors (steroid-sparing therapy).
Cardio-Oncology Support
In partnership with the Ascension Texas Cardiovascular Cardio-Oncology program, we support patients with cancer or cancer-related therapies who have advanced cardiovascular conditions such as heart failure.
