Dell Children's Medical Center - Texas Child Study Center is a joint effort of at Dell Children’s Medical Center and the College of Education of The University of Texas at Austin. We are committed to providing emotional and cognitive care for the youth and families of Central Texas.
Evaluation and intervention
Our teams use the latest science to help children and youth with these conditions. We also provide assessment to care for other issues that affect youth and their families, such as:
- Health concerns
- Grief and loss
- Pain management
- School consultation
- Emotional assessments
We provide ongoing assessment on our care and the effect on symptoms and behavior, as well as feedback to the children and their families.
Chronic illness
We also provide assessment and care for children and adolescents with acute or chronic medical illnesses, such as epilepsy, cystic fibrosis, diabetes, obesity, and traumatic injury. We address the mental health issues that they often face along with these conditions.
Core mental health services
Our experienced team takes a multi-disciplinary, using psychiatry, psychology, and social work. We also work families, schools, and communities for best results. Our services include:

- Parenting sessions, including training to address behavior problems
- Psychiatric and psychological evaluations
General outpatient specialty clinic
Dell Children's Medical Center - Texas Child Study Center also provides treatment to children and families for outpatient care for coping. Some of the concerns commonly addressed within the outpatient clinic include:
- Adolescent relationship issues
- Coping with divorce
- Death of a loved one or pet
- Family relocation
- Self-esteem issues
