Transfer a patient to Dell Children’s

As a referring provider, you are connected directly with the accepting physician at Dell Children’s Medical Center Central and North Campuses. We streamline phone calls to get your patient transferred as quickly as possible. The transfer center is available by phone 24/7 to provide a centralized point of access and a coordinated transfer process to Dell Children’s for inter-facility transfers including for NICU, PICU, ECMO and trauma.

Please be ready to provide the following information when calling:

  • Patient name and date of birth
  • Referring physician name and direct callback number
  • Referring hospital
  • Brief diagnosis, chief complaint or service needed
  • Basic patient condition
  • Your name and phone number

After requesting a transfer, our experienced transport coordinators will handle the complete transfer process, including:

  • Arranging for a patient bed
  • Arranging for patient transportation
  • Communicating with nursing
  • Consulting with the accepting physician
  • All other transfer needs

We use Nuance Powershare to quickly and securely share imaging exams and reports.

The Dell Children’s transport team connects you and your patients to doctors and services at Dell Children’s Medical Center Central and North campuses. Our transport team works quickly to understand your patient’s needs while providing a seamless transfer of care experience for your doctors and care teams. Dell Children’s offers a team of dedicated critical care transport professionals: STARFlight™ for rotor wing (helicopters), AMR for ground transport, and AirMed International for long distance transports that require fixed wing services (airplanes). STARFlight™, AirMed International, and Dell Children’s Pediatric Critical Care Transport Team are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Medical Transport Systems (CAMTS).
