We start by listening to you, to better understand your child and their health. Then, we work with you to create a care plan that’s right for your child. As part of their care plan, we support you and provide education so you can better understand your child’s heart condition.

Our pediatric cardiovascular team delivers advanced specialty care, including non-surgical and surgical heart care. We care for pediatric heart conditions, including, but not limited to:

  • Arrhythmia (irregular heartbeat)
An arrhythmia occurs when the heart beats irregularly, too fast or too slow. Children with arrhythmias may feel palpitations (irregular heartbeats), dizzy, fatigued or short of breath. They usually do not cause harm, and go away on their own or with treatment.  We monitor your child’s arrhythmia over time and provide treatment, if needed.
  • Chest pain
There are many causes of chest pain – from muscle strains and acid reflux to a heart condition. We provide advanced diagnostic tests and imaging to identify the cause of your child’s chest pain.
  • Congenital heart disease
Congenital heart disease is a heart condition that develops before birth. At Dell Children’s, we diagnose, monitor and treat congenital heart disease in fetuses, children and adults.
  • Heart murmur
A heart murmur is a whooshing sound made by abnormal blood flow in the heart. Many times, heart murmurs do not require treatment. We diagnose heart murmurs and provide treatment, if needed.
  • High blood pressure
We diagnose and monitor high blood pressure in children. We work with you to create a care plan that helps lower your child’s blood pressure to a healthy range.
  • High cholesterol
We diagnose and monitor high cholesterol in children. We work with you to create a care plan that helps lower your child’s cholesterol to a healthy range.
  • Syncope (passing out spells)
There are many reasons a child may pass out, such as stress, dehydration, or a drop in blood pressure. In some cases, passing out may be related to a heart condition. We provide advanced diagnostic tests and imaging to identify the cause of your child’s syncope.
  • Family history of heart disease
If your child has a family history of heart disease, they may be at a higher risk for developing heart disease. We work with you to create a care plan to monitor your child’s heart health and help lower their risk.
At Dell Children’s, we provide nonsurgical tests and imaging to evaluate and monitor your child’s heart condition, including cardiac MRI, echocardiography, exercise testing, and fetal echo. Our team delivers a wide range of treatment options, including cardiac catheterization, ECMO, electrophysiology, heart surgery and heart transplant.
