Pediatric dermatology at Dell Children's
Board-certified pediatric dermatologists at Dell Children’s have advanced and specialized training and expertise to diagnose and treat dermatologic conditions in children. We also provide care into adulthood for patients with congenital conditions. Your child’s dermatologist starts by listening to understand you and your child and their symptoms. Diagnostic tests, such as biopsies or blood tests, may be used to diagnose your child’s condition. Then, we work together with you to create a care plan that’s right for your child. For children with ongoing dermatologic care needs, each visit starts with a conversation about any new symptoms or concerns, so that your child’s care plan can be adjusted as their needs change.

That means if your child’s condition is related to another health concern, we work closely with other pediatric specialists and referring doctors at Dell Children’s, including rheumatology, vascular anomaly care, cancer care, plastic surgery and more. Together, we collaborate on your child’s care plan to deliver comprehensive care. And your child benefits from having the expertise of multiple specialists.
Advanced dermatologic treatments
Your child’s care plan is personalized for their age and needs. Some conditions may be managed through at-home therapies and ongoing medications. Other conditions may require a minor procedure or surgery. Most procedures can be done in our office using a local anesthetic to help manage discomfort. If your child needs sedation for their procedure, it will be done at Dell Children’s Medical Center. Your child will be supported by an entire team of pediatric specialists, including pediatric anesthesiologists and child life specialists.
Your child’s care team takes the time to explain the procedure to you and your child. We’ll also talk about what to expect before and after the procedure.
Common procedures include:
- Biopsy and excisions (removal of tissue)
- BOTOX™ injections for hyperhidrosis
- Cryotherapy (liquid nitrogen)
- Immunotherapy (to treat skin diseases)
- Minor skin procedures
- Narrow band UVB therapy
- Removal of skin lesions
- Laser treatments
