Pediatric hospital medicine at Dell Children's
At Dell Children’s Medical Center at Ascension Seton, experienced pediatric hospitalists are the center of your child’s care while your child is in the hospital. Your child’s hospitalist team oversees all of your child’s care 24/7 and co-manages care with your child’s other specialists. Hospitalists are pediatricians with additional training and expertise in hospital medicine. If your child is staying in the hospital, your child's pediatrician may work with one of our hospitalists to provide care for your child.
Specialized pediatric hospital care
Your hospitalist starts by listening to you and your child. Your child’s care plan is personalized to their needs, addressing the whole child – both physical and emotional health – while they are in the hospital. Your child’s hospitalist collaborates with your child’s specialists and keeps your child’s pediatrician informed. We make sure your child is receiving the right care and connects your family to resources in the hospital – such as imaging and labs, child life specialists, social workers, school support and more. Your child’s hospitalist works closely with pediatric specialists in many specialties to co-manage their care.
Helping transition your child’s care to home
When your child is released from hospital care, your child’s hospital medicine care team helps transition their care. Your child’s hospitalist shares your child’s health records with their pediatrician to help make sure they are staying informed. We also connect you with other pediatric specialists at Dell Children’s for ongoing follow-up and specialty care. And we work with you to make sure you have all the information you need to care for your child at home.
Transfer your patient’s care
If you are a pediatrician and your patient needs admission, we help coordinate your patient’s care while they are in the hospital. While your patient is in our care, we keep you informed by providing records and updates. To transfer your patient’s care to a hospitalist at Dell Children’s Medical Center, please call 512-324-3262.
