Specialized care for teens and young adults
Teens and young adults with certain conditions need a care team who understands what they are experiencing and how they are feeling. Adolescent medicine providers have specialized training in treating health conditions. Depending on your child’s condition, our adolescent medicine providers may invite other specialists to be part of your child’s care team. We work closely with pediatric specialists in neurology, orthopedics, gastroenterology (GI), and others.
Our adolescent medicine providers have specialized training in treating eating disorders such as:
- Anorexia nervosa
- Anorexia nervosa atypical
- Avoidant restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID)
- Binge eating
- Bulimia
- Relative energy deficiency in sport (RED-S)
- Restrictive disorder
- Other specified eating disorders
Comprehensive care for eating disorders
Providers and care teams at Dell Children’s provide multidisciplinary care for teens and young adults with eating disorders. Your child’s care team may include adolescent medicine providers, dietitians, psychologists and social workers. We start by listening to understand your child and your concerns. Your child’s care plan may include a combination of therapy with a mental health specialist, medication (for anxiety or depression), nutrition support and education.
