Volunteer requirements
At Ascension Genesys Hospital, we look for volunteers who have enthusiastic and professional attitudes. Volunteers need to be dependable, compassionate, understanding, have good communication skills, and are able to function independently with minimal supervision. To be considered, you must:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Have a high school diploma or GED
- Have an active email address
- Commit to at least six months of continuous service (generally one four-hour shift per week)
- Consent to a criminal background check
- Consent to a drug screen
- Take a T-spot TB test
- Provide proof or be willing to be vaccinated for:
- Influenza (during flu season)
- TDAP
- MMR
- Varicella
- Complete new volunteer orientation

If a match is identified, we will contact you to schedule an interview. If we cannot identify a match, your file will remain open for six months. We will contact you within that time if other openings become available that may interest you.
