Volunteer requirements

With their contagious smiles, comforting presence and huge hearts – our volunteers make Ascension Saint Alexius in Illinois feel like home. Due to the nature of our work there are a number of requirements that all Ascension volunteers must meet. We accept adults age 18 and up. Teenagers must be at least 16 years old at time of application. Volunteers are also required to complete a criminal background check and orientation paperwork. Then you will complete onsite training in assigned department upon beginning your assignment, (mandatory training sessions will also be scheduled annually for all volunteers.) Uniforms and ID badge are required any time you are volunteering. To maintain active status, volunteers are expected to commit to a minimum of four hours of service each week for a minimum of 100 hours over the duration of six continuous months. These requirements ensure that volunteers are well-prepared and dedicated to supporting the mission of Ascension Saint Alexius. Please review the "Immunization" requirements and "General" requirements for the location you are applying for, before submitting your application.
