Volunteer requirements
With their contagious smiles, comforting presence and huge hearts – our volunteers make each Ascension Saint Joseph - Chicago feel like home. Due to the nature of our work there are a number of requirements that all Ascension volunteers must meet. Must be minimum age of 15 years old at time of application (parental consent is required for minors). First you will need to attend a volunteer orientation and complete a volunteer application. Then you will get a two-step TB test, provide proof of vaccination records, and get a flu shot. Volunteers are also required to undergo annual TB testing and complete ongoing education initiatives. Uniforms are required any time you are volunteering. To maintain active status, volunteers are expected to commit to a minimum of 4 hours of service each week for at least 6 months. These requirements ensure that volunteers are well-prepared and dedicated to supporting the mission of Ascension Saint Joseph - Chicago. Please review the "Immunization" requirements and "General" requirements for the location you are applying for, before submitting your application. If you are interested in volunteering, please e-mail us to start the process.
