Health Access: connecting you to healthcare service

Health Access provides a comprehensive network of health, human and social services for improved access and removal of barriers to needed resources. The Health Access Department (formerly known as RUAH) is a community-based care coordination program sponsored by Ascension St. Vincent and inspired by the work of St. Vincent de Paul.

Health advocates can help you connect to care by finding a doctor, applying for health coverage programs, connecting to community resources and agencies, and  prescription assistance programs. When you come into the hospital or doctor’s office for services, be sure to let your doctor and care team  know you’re working with a health advocate. That way, we can better serve you by working together as a team to help you remove any barrier to you and your family’s health. A health advocate can help you:

  • Find a doctor
  • Identify medications at free and reduced cost
  • Apply for health coverage (Medicaid, Healthy Indiana Plan, Medicare, Hoosier Healthwise)
  • Apply for public programs (Food Stamps, TANF, Social Security, WIC, Breast and Cervical Cancer Program)
  • Connect to other community resources and agencies for assistance
