Multidisciplinary care for burns
Your child will be cared for by a multidisciplinary team with specialists from Ascension St. Vincent and Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital. Your child’s care team may include burn care specialists, pediatric infectious disease specialists, pediatric plastic surgeons, pediatric anesthesiologists and sedation specialists, pediatric physical and occupational therapists, pediatric dietitians, certified child life specialists and more. We work together to deliver comprehensive care for your child – physically and emotionally.

Emergency and inpatient burn care for children
At Ascension St. Vincent Adult and Pediatric Burn Center, we treat first-, second-, third- and fourth-degree burns, including chemical burns, electrical burns, friction burns and inhalation injuries. When your child and family come into the emergency room with a severe burn, your child’s care team quickly assesses the degree of their burn. If your child’s condition requires a stay in the hospital, we will be here to support you along the way. We connect you with pediatric specialists in critical care, plastic surgery and more. Together, we create a personalized care plan that focuses on regaining function, preventing infection, reducing scarring and managing pain.
If your child has a traumatic burn or injury, know you are connected to the highest level of care in our Level I Pediatric Trauma Center at Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital. Outpatient burn care for children
The Ascension St. Vincent Burn Center Clinic provides same-day care for burns that do not require emergency care and follow-up care while your child is recovering. If your child’s burn is more severe, they will be transferred to the inpatient burn unit at Ascension St. Vincent Adult and Pediatric Burn Center. Your care team can also connect your child and family with pediatric specialists in plastic surgery, physical therapy, child life and more.
