Rooted in the loving ministry of Jesus as healer, we commit ourselves to serving all persons with special attention to those who are poor and vulnerable. Our Catholic health ministry is dedicated to spiritually centered holistic care which sustains and improves the health of individuals and communities. At the core of Ascension sites of care’s long tradition of caring for those in our community, is a group of volunteers whose willing hearts and helping hands have served generations of families during their time of need.

Volunteers are a diverse group of people who provide assistance to the hospital and enhance the experience for our patients and their families. Each volunteer brings a new and unique level of expertise to our volunteer care teams. Whether you are in your retirement years and want to give back to the community, a student exploring healthcare careers or you just have a desire to help others, each volunteer provides services that elevate our level of care. 

 

What kind of volunteer opportunities are available?

Ascension sites of care offer various volunteer opportunities. The primary purpose and goal of our volunteer program is for volunteers to provide hospitality and conversation to patients, their families and visitors, while assisting the staff with non-clinical support. Responsibilities and duties may vary depending on the program you select and types of services you wish to provide. Whether providing directions to visitors, running the register at the gift shop, or spending time with a patient, our volunteers take pride in impacting the lives of others in a positive way. The time you spend in volunteer activities may vary, from a few hours a week to several hours a day. You can schedule time and volunteer at a location that is convenient  for you.

Special skills are not required to be a volunteer. You just need to have a willing heart and a warm smile.

 

How do I become a part of the volunteer team?

With their contagious smiles, comforting presence and huge hearts – our volunteers make each Ascension site of care feel like home.  Due to the nature of our work there are a number of requirements that all Ascension Volunteers must meet. Please review the Immunization requirements and General requirements for the location you are applying for, before submitting your application.
