Why volunteer?

Whatever your reason is for volunteering, know that you can truly make a difference with the volunteer program at Ascension Wisconsin. Each volunteer brings a new and unique level of expertise to the Ascension Wisconsin volunteer family. Volunteers are a diverse group of individuals who provide assistance to the hospital that enhance the experience for our patients and families. Volunteers are teenagers, retired adults, college students, professionals and more.

What are the requirements to volunteer?

We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds. We ask for a weekly commitment of at least 6 months, and for students to commit to at least two semesters. Volunteers need to be at least 15 years of age. To ensure our patients’ wellbeing and to help you have the best volunteer experience possible, Ascension Wisconsin requires all volunteers to meet the following criteria outlined below:

  • Interview
  • Background checks
  • Reference checks
  • Associate health requirements, including health assessment; blood draw to test for TB and for immunities to measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox); drug screening
  • Seasonal influenza immunization (flu shot)
  • Volunteer orientation and training
