Our volunteers help in countless ways by making a child giggle or an older person smile. They deliver mail and flowers to hospitalized patients and comfort families who are worried about loved ones. Through deeds, large and small, volunteers help patients and their families feel better during difficult times. In addition to helping care for our patients, volunteers greet visitors at the reception desk, staff the gift shop, deliver medications to the nursing units, provide the Children's Day program to area kindergarten classes, and assist with a variety of clerical duties in various departments throughout the medical center. Jane Phillips volunteers have always served as a friendly bridge between the hospital and the community at large.
Our Volunteers
The first volunteers, or auxilians, at Ascension Jane Phillips Medical Center, were organized in 1959 and assisted with seven hospital services. Today, 100 volunteers help provide services throughout the hospital and tallied over 15,000 volunteer hours in just the last year. Our volunteers come from all walks of life. Some are students, some are employees of local businesses and corporations, and others are retired.
All come with one common purpose: to help Ascension Jane Phillips Medical Center meet its mission and our volunteers are vital to the success of our mission.
Whether young in age or young at heart, Ascension Jane Phillips volunteers share their hearts and their talents in service to the hospital, its patients, visitors and guests. Whether working with patients or providing great customer service to visitors and guests in the gift shop or information desk, or performing clerical duties in support of hospital staff, our volunteer partners truly bring an added measure of quality to Ascension Jane Phillips' commitment to customer service and satisfaction.
