A comprehensive orientation is provided for each new volunteer and training is provided for each volunteer position.
Please note: It takes approximately two weeks for an application and references to be processed. Be sure to inform your references that they will be contacted. We will call them and mail or email a questionnaire to them.

Ascension Via Christi St. Francis
Position: 8SW Patient Ambassador
Description: Works directly with the nursing unit piloting the new model of care. Works alongside professional staff as they care for patients. Supports patients and families one on one by providing the extra layer of care. Ideal volunteers include, but are not limited to, anyone who has served in healthcare or is interested in pursuing a career in healthcare.
Position: Floral volunteer
Description: Assist our florist in creating flower arrangements and gift items. Prior floral experience is a plus. Daytime hours only varied days available.
Position: Extraordinary Minister and Pastoral Care Volunteer
Description: Provides Sacramental care and support for Catholic patients and families. Distributes the Host Communion to patients on the Communion list.

Position: Clerical Assistant
Description: Assist with varied office duties

Position: Gift Shop Sales Associate
Description: Greets and assists customers with selections and suggests gift ideas. Operates cash register and helps with restocking shelves.

Position: Information Desk Receptionist
Description: Greets and assists individuals entering the hospital, whether they are patients, family, visitors, Physicians, clergy or vendors. Assists individuals who phone Via Christi trying to locate a patient.

Position: Joint Replacement Coach
Description: Works in our specialized program designed specifically for support and recovery of our patients who have had a total hip or knee replacement. Works alongside professional staff as they care for patients, and supports patients one on one by serving as a volunteer or an extended family "coach" during group activities. Ideal volunteers include anyone who has received a total joint replacement; former "coaches," those who have helped care for someone after a joint replacement; students interested in or pursuing a career in healthcare; or anyone with an interest in or passion for orthopedics.
Position: Mail Room
Description: Helps sort mail from the Post Office and all Ascension entities. Helps look up mail and return if address is no longer at the facility. Helps to make a warm and caring environment.

Description: Visits with recently admitted patients to assure they are receiving exceptional care.

Description: Greets families to the waiting room and informs and updates family of patient status.
