Since its founding in 1952, St. Vincent Auxiliary has provided the funding, warmth, compassion and personal touches needed to further the Mission begun by the founders of St. Vincent - the Daughters of Charity. The Auxiliary supports St. Vincent programs, projects and services by not only volunteering hundreds of hours annually, but also by raising funds through various fundraisers and proceeds from the Gift Shoppe. Some of the Auxiliary's activities include their Style Show, Book Sale and Christmas Tea. Projects supported by the Auxiliary include the Annual Achievement Award Scholarship for children of St. Vincent associates, St. Vincent journey to Magnet recognition, the Medical Library, the renovation of the Manor Auditorium and more.

The Auxiliary welcomes all people who understand the value of giving. Membership dues are $10 annually for active status which requires 25 hours of service. Lifetime status is granted to members contributing a one-time gift of $100. In addition to the benefits for all active volunteers, members receive four newsletters per year, a membership directory and invitations to all events and fundraisers.

Patient Mail and Flower Delivery Volunteers

Everyone enjoys a gift of flowers and a card of positive thoughts - especially while being away from home in the hospital. These volunteers have the opportunity to put a smile on the face of the receiving patients or visitors.

No One Dies Alone

Individuals in this position will provide the reassuring presence of a compassionate companion to dying patients who would otherwise be alone at their death. With the support of the nursing staff, these companions are able to help provide patients with the most valued of human gifts: a dignified death.

Companions will receive training that includes orientation to the processes of death and dying. You do not have to be a healthcare worker to be a compassionate companion. Volunteers are not responsible for any nursing care whatsoever, but lovingly perform a sitting vigil at bedside by providing a caring presence that may offer music, prayer, plumping a pillow, holding a hand, other acts of kindness or simply being there.
