Peyton Manning Children's Hospital - Indianapolis Pediatric Trauma Center is a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center.

The highest level of pediatric trauma care

If your child is experiencing a life-threatening or traumatic injury, Peyton Manning Children's Hospital trauma center is on call with highly trained pediatric doctors and care teams. We work quickly to stabilize, diagnose and treat your child's injury. Peyton Manning Children's Hospital has a Level I Trauma Center – meaning we deliver the highest level of trauma care. And by partnering with community EMS and StatFlight helicopters, we bring lifesaving care to children throughout Indiana and nearby states.

Our pediatric trauma care team has the expertise to treat even the most serious pediatric injuries, including:

  • Blunt force trauma

  • Falls
  • Motor vehicle accidents
  • Other severe injuries

To treat complex traumatic injuries, we bring together a multidisciplinary care team. Your child may be cared for by pediatric trauma surgeons, neurosurgeons, orthopedic surgeons, plastic surgeons, intensive care specialists, hospitalists, respiratory therapists, anesthesiologists, radiologists, certified child life specialists, social workers and more. Together, we collaborate to provide comprehensive emergency medical care and follow-up care.

Before your child goes home, we connect you with the right pediatric specialists and follow-up care at Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital, such as imaging, pharmacy, pediatric rehabilitation, pediatric orthopedic care, pediatric neurology, pediatric surgery, pediatric heart care and more. We make sure your child and family are connected to all the services you will need to help your child recover and get back to their daily life.

Injury prevention programs

We offer injury prevention programs, such as car seat safety and ways for children to stay safe within their homes by partnering with the community and school health events. We provide continuing education to first responders and work with community leaders to improve medical crisis response plans in preparation for natural disasters or homeland security threats.
