Alumni programming
Brighton Recovery Alumni Group (BRAG)
Adults come to Ascension Brighton Center for Recovery from every walk of life, determined to end their dependence on substances. Once they have completed addiction treatment and begin a life of recovery, they become members of our Brighton Recovery Alumni Group (BRAG). This group is a valuable source of support for others who are facing similar challenges.
We encourage alumni to stay connected during their lifelong journeys of recovery by being active BRAG members. BRAG members are invited to volunteer, join our speakers bureau, and attend meetings, and other Ascension Brighton Center for Recovery events. To register as a BRAG member or update your contact information, call 810-225-2527.
Tune Up
Tune Up events provide an opportunity for alumni of Ascension Brighton Center for Recovery’s treatment programs to celebrate success in recovery, hear from inspirational speakers and participate in community-building activities. Coining ceremonies are also part of Tune Up events and acknowledge benchmarks achieved while maintaining sobriety. Tune Up events are held in May, August and November.

Friends and family programming
Every patient treated for substance use has friends and family who also suffer because of the addiction. Ascension Brighton Center for Recovery helps patients and their circle of support heal together. We help you build a strong foundation for challenges faced when working to achieve and maintain a sober lifestyle.
Family and friends play an important role in the recovery efforts of our patients, and are invited to join the following support and education programs we provide:
Friends and Family Program
Our Friends and Family Program is an intensive substance use counseling program designed to:
- Support those affected by a loved one’s addiction
- Allow inpatients to spend time with concerned loved ones
- Provide a safe learning environment for a patient’s circle of support that includes education about addiction and how to get involved in the patient’s recovery process
Family workshops
Family workshops are topic-driven educational sessions for family members held on Fridays from noon to 1:30 p.m. The sessions are facilitated by our family therapist and include small group discussion.
Note: Event programming may be paused to stop the spread of germs and viruses during peak infection times, such as influenza season.
Chit Chat
Chit Chat is an informal, weekly discussion program for family members and friends of an individual who struggles with substance use. The discussions are facilitated virtually by behavioral health family therapists every Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. Chit Chat provides education, support and guidance to those close to a patient.

Children’s awareness programming
The Children’s Awareness Program at Ascension Brighton Center for Recovery provides education and support at no cost to children ages 7-12 who have been directly affected by the substance use of a loved one. The 3-day program focuses on addiction prevention and promotes healing by helping children understand their feelings and learn coping skills.
