About Us
Studer Family Children’s Hospital Bear Family Foundation Pediatric Oncology Center for Hope provides care for children with cancer and blood diseases.

Pediatric cancer care, close to home

The Bear Family Foundation Pediatric Oncology Center for Hope at the Studer Family Children's Hospital at Ascension Sacred Heart in Pensacola, Florida, cares for children, adolescents, and young adults with cancer, blood disorders, bone marrow failure, and congenital immune deficiencies.

Our goal is to treat and cure children with cancer and blood diseases by understanding their special needs and delivering comprehensive, compassionate care from diagnosis to recovery. Our hospital environment is designed with kids and families in mind. We make doctors visits, tests and treatments, including chemotherapy and blood transfusions, convenient for your family.

Pediatric cancer and blood disorders

Pediatric doctors, oncologists, surgeons and care teams provide child-focused care for a wide range of childhood cancers and blood disorders, including:

  • More common and rare childhood cancers
  • Bleeding and clotting disorders
  • Long-term survivorship of childhood malignancies
  • Benign hematologic conditions, such as anemia
  • Sickle cell anemia
  • Bone marrow failure syndromes

Support for families and children with cancer or blood disorders

There's a lot to think about when you find out your child has a cancer diagnosis and you're deciding on a treatment plan. We're here to listen to you and answer your questions. Your care team makes sure you understand your child's condition and their treatment plan.

Additionally, our child life specialists, social workers, case managers and finance specialists are dedicated to supporting your family along every step of the way.

A cancer center designed for children and families

The addition of the Bear Family Pediatric Oncology Center to Studer Family Children's Hospital expands the care we provide to children and families in Northwest Florida. Almost half of the 11,500 square-foot cancer center is devoted to a play area, family room, movie room and respite rooms to help your family rest. The expansion of the cancer center allows the children's hospital to offer more national clinical research trials, while keeping families close to home.

This center was made possible thanks to a $1.75 million donation from the Bear Family Foundation. With this donation, the Bear Family Foundation joins the legacy of Ascension Sacred Heart's first pediatric oncologist, Dr. Thomas G. Jenkins, in extending the children's hospital's impact in childhood cancer across the Gulf Coast region.

The Studer Family Children's Hospital's goal is to keep more children undergoing cancer treatment close to home and to provide the space and support services needed to give families a smoother and more comfortable experience.
