Frequently asked questions about inpatient addiction treatment

  • Do I need inpatient treatment?

Inpatient care is recommended for adults who need to be closely monitored or who are unable to achieve sobriety while living in their current environments. It is also designed for the adult who has previously experienced substance use treatment in a less structured environment or those with a current physical or mental health condition that prevents them from maintaining sobriety.

  • What is the duration of the inpatient treatment program?

Inpatient treatment at Ascension Brighton Center for Recovery typically lasts up to 28 days.

  • How is inpatient rehab structured?

Our care team focuses on a patient’s individual needs. This personalized attention sets Ascension Brighton Center for Recovery apart from other substance use treatment facilities. Inpatient treatment provides 24/7 care and includes:

    • Detoxification
    • Counseling
    • Group therapy
    • Educational lectures and videos
    • Recreational therapy
  • How does the program approach detoxification (detox)?

Use of alcohol, fentanyl or other chemical dependencies can build up toxins in the body. These toxins can cause health conditions that can be harmful to other parts of your body, including your brain. Detox is often the first step in a substance use treatment plan.

At Ascension Brighton Center for Recovery, we help patients safely withdraw from addictive substances by using medications and other treatment techniques. Our care team monitors patients closely to manage withdrawal symptoms. We provide a nurturing environment with counseling and behavioral health therapy that focuses on your physical and emotional health.

  • Does the program accommodate co-occuring mental health conditions?

Mental health is an important part of a person’s overall health. The care team at Ascension Brighton Center for Recovery can help patients understand how to manage alcohol and substance use dependency while being treated for mental health conditions, such as:

    • Anxiety disorders, including PTSD
    • Attention deficit disorder
    • Bipolar disorder
    • Depression
    • Eating disorders
    • Panic attacks
    • Phobias
    • Schizophrenia

If someone is experiencing severe mental or emotional distress, professional care is necessary and urgent. Go directly to the emergency room or call 911.

  • Are friends and family allowed to visit patients during inpatient rehab?

There is no open visiting during inpatient treatment at Ascension Brighton Center for Recovery. However, we encourage participation in our Family and Friends Program, which allows inpatients to spend time with concerned loved ones in a supportive, learning environment. The program also helps a patient’s circle of support educate themselves about addiction and get involved in a patient’s recovery process.

While Ascension Brighton Center for Recovery does not have specific visiting hours, we know how important a support network is to a patient’s overall recovery. Family, friends or support persons are encouraged to visit and be part of the patient’s lifelong recovery. Talk to your loved one’s care team to arrange a visit.
