About the micro pantry

Ascension Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital is committed to improving the health and well-being of the communities we serve. That commitment includes helping address food insecurity and expanding access to food and basic necessities for individuals and families facing short-term needs.

In Illinois, many people continue to experience hunger and limited access to nutritious food. Ascension Illinois recognizes that food insecurity is a real challenge in our communities, and our Micro Pantry offers a simple, accessible way to help.

The Micro Pantry is a small, self-serve structure where community members can leave donated food and essential items or take what they need. Inspired by the “Little Free Library” concept and founded on the belief that neighbors helping neighbors can make a meaningful difference, the pantry is available to everyone. No application, registration or qualifications are required.

Available to everyone

Open and accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, the Micro Pantry provides cost-free, anonymous support with dignity and compassion.

Community partnership

This initiative was established through a valued community partnership with The Guardian Group, helping us extend our mission of care beyond our hospital walls and into the neighborhoods we proudly serve.

How you can help

  • Donate food and essential items - Community members are invited to donate nonperishable food and basic essential items to help support neighbors in need.
  • Take what you need - Those who need support are welcome to take what they need, when they need it.
