In Kansas, a doctor’s referral is not required if you are seeking physical therapy (PT), but some insurance companies may still require it. A 45-minute physical therapy evaluation is done before subsequent therapy appointments may begin. Please call the clinic to inquire if you are eligible to begin PT without a doctor’s referral.

Adult speech therapy

Speech-language pathologists, also known as speech therapists, specialize in the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of communication disorders, cognitive-communication disorders, voice disorders, and swallowing disorders.

Our adult speech therapists serve adults who are experiencing changes in their speech clarity or fluency, language skills (receptive or expressive language), memory, voice, and swallowing. This could include diagnoses such as stroke, Parkinson’s disease, ALS, mild neurocognitive disorder, dementia, dysphagia, head and neck cancer, vocal nodules or polyps, or vocal cord dysfunction.

Our therapists are certified in a variety of therapy techniques such as, Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT LOUD) targeted at improving one’s voice and Vital Stim which targets improving one’s swallowing ability. The SLP’s are also trained in further diagnosing swallowing deficits with the use of Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) and Modified Barium Swallow studies (MBSS).
