Treatment options include surgery, medical oncology, radiation oncology, clinical trials, supportive care and more. Chemotherapy and other therapies to treat cancer

A medical oncologist works with your doctor to prescribe chemotherapy or other medications. Chemotherapy and other treatments may involve oral, intravenous (IV) or topical medication therapy. These therapies may be given in combination with other types of treatment.

  • Adjuvant chemotherapy
  • Immunotherapy
  • Hormone therapy
  • Regional perfusion therapy
  • Hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy, or hot chemotherapy
  • Traditional chemotherapy

Your care team helps you manage your side effects. Tell your doctor how you feel—physically and emotionally. We want to help you feel as comfortable as possible while you’re receiving care.

Personalized radiation therapy targets cancer cells

Radiation oncologists and interventional oncologists deliver advanced, targeted radiotherapy and radiosurgery to eliminate cancer cells and tumors. Radiation therapy may be given in combination with other types of treatment.

  • Brachytherapy
  • CyberKnife® System
  • External beam radiation therapy
  • Radioembolization, also called Y90
  • Stereotactic body radiotherapy, stereotactic radiosurgery and stereotactic radiation therapy
  • Transarterial chemoembolization (TACE)

Removing tumors with surgery

For tumors and cancerous growths, surgery may be recommended. Whenever possible, surgeons at Ascension St. Vincent's use minimally invasive techniques and robotic surgery to help shorten your recovery from surgery, promote healing and reduce scarring. Our surgeons specialize in tumor removal, plastic surgery, urologic surgery and more.

  • Robotic-assisted da Vinci® Xi™ system for gynecologic cancer surgery
