Care for women’s health conditions
At Ascension Medical Group Providence Women's Health in Waco, TX, we deliver compassionate, personalized care for women close to home in Austin, Texas. Your care team takes the time to get to know you and learn about your health history. We deliver a wide range of personalized gynecological services, including:
-
Depression and anxiety
Depression and anxiety can be caused by many things, including hormonal fluctuations, stress, life changes and more. Both depression and anxiety can impact your life by affecting your mood, behavior and overall well-being. Our care team starts by listening to you and how you are feeling. Then, we work with you to create a personalized care plan. Your doctor can connect you with supportive resources, provide referrals for therapy, and prescribe medications.
-
Endometriosis
Endometriosis occurs when the lining of the uterus grows on other places in your body, such as your ovaries, fallopian tubes, behind the uterus, bowels or bladder. Our OB-GYNs specialize in the diagnosis of endometriosis. Together, we create a treatment plan that’s right for you. Care plans may include pain relievers, hormone therapy, or minimally-invasive surgical treatments.
-
Fibroids
Fibroids are firm, dense tumors that develop in the uterus. They are made of smooth muscle cells and fibrous connective tissue. Fibroids are very common, however, not all of them are large enough to be found by a healthcare provider during a physical exam so may remain undiagnosed if you are not symptomatic. Fibroids can be treated using non-surgical and surgical techniques, including minimally-invasive and robotic-assisted techniques.
-
Incontinence
Urinary incontinence (UI) occurs when the bladder loses control, or you are unable to control urination. This can be caused by a weakened pelvic floor, childbirth, menopause, and other conditions. Our experienced providers have the expertise to diagnose UI and create a personalized treatment plan.
-
Infertility
Our OB-GYNs understand how difficult infertility is for you and your family. We listen to understand you and your health history. By getting to know you and your health, we create a care plan that’s personalized for you. Our OB-GYNs have the expertise to diagnose and treat infertility using hormone therapy, medication, in vitro fertilization (IVF), intrauterine insemination (IUI), surgery, and other treatments.
-
Irregular periods
Irregular periods occur when your period comes early, late, missing, or when the length of your menstrual cycle changes. The most common causes of irregular periods are premenopause, stress, pregnancy, thyroid disorders and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Our care teams have the expertise to diagnose irregular periods and provide treatment based on your personalized needs.
-
Menopause
Menopause is a natural part of aging that most women will experience at some point in their life. Symptoms of menopause include irregular periods, hot flashes, trouble sleeping, vaginal dryness, mood changes, and urinary urgency. Your OB-GYN can help you understand if your symptoms are related to menopause or something else. Then, we work with you to create a care plan that helps you manage your symptoms. As part of our care team, we have Menopause Society Certified Practitioners.
-
Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID)
Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) is an infection and inflammation of the uterus, ovaries, and other female reproductive organs. Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are the most common cause of PID. Our OB-GYNs can diagnose PID with a physical exam, lab tests, or imaging tests. Medications are usually prescribed to treat PID.
-
Pelvic organ prolapse
Pelvic organ prolapse occurs when one or more organs in the pelvis slip down from their normal position and bulge into the vagina. Pelvic organ prolapse is usually caused by a weakened pelvic floor and is non life threatening. Our OB-GYNs have the expertise to diagnose and treat pelvic organ prolapse. Treatment options may include pelvic floor physical therapy or surgery.
-
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is caused by an imbalance of hormones. Common symptoms of PCOS include irregular periods, excess hair growth, acne, infertility, and weight gain. Treatment varies based on your personal needs and can include medication and lifestyle changes.
-
Pregnancy
Pregnancy is a special time for you and your family. Our OB-GYNs provide care for women throughout pregnancy, labor, delivery and postpartum. Your OB-GYN helps guide you through your pregnancy, and monitors the health of you and your baby. We take the time to get to know you and answer your questions – big and small. Then, we work with you to deliver the care that’s right for you and your growing family.
OB-GYNs also deliver care for many conditions related to pregnancy, such as gestational diabetes, high blood pressure and preeclampsia, preterm labor, and more. If you are having a high-risk pregnancy and need more advanced care, your OB-GYN can connect you with a maternal-fetal medicine (MFM) specialist. Together, we deliver advanced care for moms and babies throughout pregnancy.
-
Sexually transmitted infection (STI)
Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are infections that are passed from one person to another through sexual contact. Common symptoms include discharge, sores or warts on the genital area, painful or frequent urination, itching and redness in the genital area, abdominal pain, and fever. Our OB-GYNs can diagnose and treat or manage STIs using medications.
-
Urinary tract infection (UTI)
Urinary tract infection (UTI) is an infection that occurs anywhere in the urinary system including the kidneys, bladder, and urethra. Symptoms include pain or burning when you urinate, fever, frequent urge to urinate, pressure on your lower belly, urine that smells or looks cloudy, pain in your back or side. Our OB-GYNs are experienced in diagnosing and treating UTIs using medications.
-
Vaginal natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery (vNOTES)
Vaginal natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery (vNOTE) uses the vagina as an access point to perform robotic surgery to relieve:
- Abnormal uterine bleeding
- Adenomyosis (where uterine lining grows into the uterine wall)
- Fibroids
- Ovarian cysts
vNOTES allows even complex surgeries to be performed without any incisions on the abdomen so that the patient is left without visible incisions and typically a faster return to daily activities.
