Austin Spine Access Surgeons
Collaborative vascular and spine care for Anterior Lumbar Interbody Fusion (ALIF) in Austin, TX.
What sets us apart?

Specialized anterior exposure expertise
John Politz, MD is a fellowship-trained vascular surgeon who specializes in anterior spine exposure for ALIF procedures. Working alongside your spine surgeon, he safely moves blood vessels aside to create direct access to the spine.
What does Dr. Politz do?
During an ALIF procedure, Dr. Politz safely navigates and moves abdominal blood vessels out of the way, creating a clear pathway to the spine while reducing surgical risks and enhancing visibility for the spine surgeon.

Why an anterior approach?
Traditional back surgeries require cutting through back muscles and working around delicate spinal nerves. The anterior (front) approach avoids back muscle disruption entirely, providing cleaner access, less nerve irritation, and a more direct path for disc reconstruction.
