Emotional and mental health care for adults
At Via Christi Partial Day Behavioral Health Outpatient Programs, our care teams diagnose and treat a wide range of mental illnesses. We care about how these disorders may affect physical and emotional health. Our care team offers programs to address complications linked to mental illness, including anxiety, family conflicts, social isolation, school/work phobia and more. We’re here to listen and understand.
Our doctors and care teams at Via Christi Partial Day Behavioral Health Outpatient Programs offer personalized, compassionate care for a wide range of behavioral health conditions. Together, we deliver a care plan that addresses prevention, interventions, treatments and recovery support services.
Partial Day Hospital: five days a week
In Wichita, Kansas, Via Christi’s Partial Day Hospital is our most intensive form of outpatient therapy and psychoeducation for treating and managing a mental illness. It allows the patients to still live at home, putting their learnings into practice each day.
- Patients attend five days a week, six hours a day, Monday through Friday
- Adolescent program (12-17), with school collaboration, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Adult program (18 and older), with FMLA paperwork completed, 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Intensive Outpatient Program: three days a week
Via Christi’s Intensive Outpatient Program is a condensed option, providing the same type of services as the Partial Day Hospital, with patients attending three days a week, six hours each day. Patients have less interference in their daily lives with this option.
- Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-3 p.m. (patients choose days that work best for them)
- Same hours as Partial Day Hospital
- Includes adolescent and adult programs
Patients benefit from either outpatient program if they have:
- A primary psychiatric diagnosis other than substance use disorder; for example, thoughts about self-harm, depression, anxiety
- The ability to understand and actively participate in intensive educational offerings (learning about illness, coping skills, medication)
- Successful engagement helps reduce inpatient stays away from family and others
- Evening and weekend support
- Reliable access to transportation
Patients who enroll in these intensive, short-term programs must be:
- Willing to participate
- Expecting progress within a specified time period
- Able to function safely without 24-hour medical and psychiatric care
- Not a threat to self or others, and able to commit to a safety plan
Both programs offer medication management and group therapy with a focus on the development of healthy life skills.
