Care for women’s health conditions

At Ascension Via Christi, we deliver a wide range of personalized obstetrics, gynecological and urogynecological care for conditions including:

Depression and anxiety can be caused by many things, including hormonal fluctuations, stress, life changes and more. Both depression and anxiety can impact your life by affecting your mood, behavior and overall well-being. Our care team starts by listening to understand you and how you are feeling. Then, we work with you to create a personalized care plan. Your doctor can connect you with supportive resources, provide referrals for therapy and prescribe medications.

Endometriosis occurs when the lining of the uterus grows on other places in your body, such as your ovaries, fallopian tubes, behind the uterus, bowels or bladder. Our OB-GYNs in Kansas specialize in diagnosing and treating endometriosis. Together, we’ll create a treatment plan that’s right for you. Your care plan may include pain relievers, hormone therapy or minimally-invasive surgical treatments.

Urinary incontinence (sometimes shortened to “UI”) occurs when the bladder loses control, or you’re unable to control urination. This can be caused by a weakened pelvic floor, childbirth, menopause and other conditions. Our experienced OB-GYNS and urogynecologists have the expertise to diagnose UI and create a personalized treatment plan.

Our OB-GYNs understand how difficult infertility can be for you and your family. We listen to understand you and your health history. By getting to know you and your health, our fertility specialists create a care plan that’s personalized for you. Our OB-GYNs have the expertise to diagnose and treat fertility issues using hormone therapy, medication, in vitro fertilization (IVF), intrauterine insemination (IUI), surgery and other fertility treatments.

Irregular periods occur when your period comes early or late, or is missing, or when the length of your menstrual cycle changes. The most common causes of irregular periods are premenopause, stress, pregnancy, thyroid disorders and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Our women’s health specialists can diagnose irregular periods and provide treatment based on your personalized needs.

Menopause is a natural part of aging most women will experience at some point in their life. Menopause symptoms include irregular periods, hot flashes, trouble sleeping, vaginal dryness, mood changes and urinary urgency. Your OB-GYN can help you understand if your symptoms are related to menopause or something else. Then, we’ll work with you to create a care plan that helps you manage your symptoms.

Pelvic inflammatory disease (sometimes shortened to “PID”) is an infection and inflammation of the uterus, ovaries and other female reproductive organs. Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are the most common cause of PID. Our OB-GYNs can diagnose PID with a physical exam, lab tests or imaging tests. Medications are usually prescribed to treat PID.

Pelvic organ prolapse occurs when one or more organs in the pelvis slip down from their normal position and bulge into the vagina. Pelvic organ prolapse is usually caused by a weakened pelvic floor and is non-life-threatening. Our OB-GYNs in Kansas have the expertise to diagnose and treat pelvic organ prolapse. Treatment options may include pelvic floor physical therapy or minimally invasive surgery including robotic surgery.

Polycystic metabolic ovarian syndrome (PMOS) — formerly known as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) — is caused by a hormone imbalance. Common PCOS symptoms can include irregular periods, excess hair growth, acne, infertility and weight gain. Treatment varies based on your personal needs and can include medication and lifestyle changes.

Pregnancy is a special time for you and your family. Our OB-GYNs provide care for women throughout pregnancy, labor, delivery and postpartum. Your OB-GYN helps guide you through your pregnancy and monitors the health of you and your baby. We take the time to get to know you and answer your questions — big and small. Then, we’ll work with you to deliver the care that’s right for you and your growing family.

OB-GYNs also deliver care for many conditions related to pregnancy, such as gestational diabetes, high blood pressure and preeclampsia, preterm labor and more. If you’re having a high-risk pregnancy and need more advanced care, your OB-GYN can connect you with a maternal-fetal medicine (MFM) specialist. Together, we deliver advanced care for moms and babies throughout pregnancy.

Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are infections passed from one person to another through sexual contact. Common STIs symptoms include discharge, sores or warts on the genital area, painful or frequent urination, itching and redness in the genital area, abdominal pain and fever. Our OB-GYNs can diagnose and treat or manage STIs using medications.

A urinary tract infection (UTI) is an infection that occurs anywhere in the urinary system including the kidneys, bladder and urethra. UTI symptoms include pain or burning when you urinate, fever, frequent urge to urinate, pressure on your lower belly, urine that smells or looks cloudy, and pain in your back or side. Our women’s health care team includes urogynecologists experienced in diagnosing and treating UTIs using medications.
