Opening Fall 2024

Women and Infants Hospital coming soon

When expecting moms in Indianapolis choose care, they choose care for their whole family. That's why Ascension St. Vincent Hospital and Peyton Manning Children's Hospital are building a new Women and Infants Hospital to ensure that moms and their babies can receive care together.
  • Years of experience with moms and babies
Did you know that at Ascension St. Vincent, we have been caring for moms and babies for well over 50 years. While the Women and Infants Hospital is a new building, we are combining our expertise and increasing the advanced care for our patients. The Women and Infants Hospital is connected to Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital through the second floor. Now, the whole family can be cared for on one campus.
  • Ready to care for the expected and unexpected
Whether you have a birth plan, high-risk concerns or premature delivery, this new location will provide the highest level of care for mothers and infants with the most complex and critical cases while keeping moms and babies under the same roof.
  • Building designed for moms and babies
The 268,000 square feet space will feature 109 private Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) rooms for babies who need it and 30 maternity suites for parents to spend time with their newborns. There are also couplet rooms where both moms and babies can receive care in the same room.
  • Compassionate care for the tiniest babies
Ascension St. Vincent Women's Hospital in Indianapolis is one of only two Maternal and NICU level IV perinatal centers in Indiana, while Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital has a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center. Combining the levels of advanced specialized care will give families the best women's health and pediatric care throughout the state and region.

Pregnancy and birthing care for expecting families

We are excited for the new Women and Infants Hospital, and also offer top-notch care in many other locations.

There’s no one-size-fits-all when it comes to having a baby. And no one knows your body better than you do. Your preferences are important. That’s why the conversation between you and your OB-GYN, midwife, birth designer and nurse navigator matters. Your care team at Ascension St. Vincent, in Indiana, starts by listening to you. As you share your questions, concerns and expectations, we listen to understand you. We take this partnership seriously. And we want you to feel comfortable.

From the very beginning, we talk through the choices that are right for you and your baby. You’ll be supported by a team that will provide the care you need — from childbirth classes to breastfeeding support and more.

Pregnancy and birthing care for expecting families

Pregnancy is a special time for you and your family. Your care team works together to provide specialized care before, during and after your delivery. And, if you need advanced care for a high-risk pregnancy, we’ll help connect you to the right specialists. Get all the care you need, including: breastfeeding support; high-risk pregnancy care; labor, delivery and postpartum care (including natural birth without epidural); maternal-fetal medicine and neonatal specialty care; midwives at select locations; OB-GYN and prenatal care; pregnancy, childbirth and new baby classes.

Your growing family is our priority. Midwifery care

If you prefer to choose a midwife for your care, our certified nurse midwives work alongside your care team to provide:
annual well-woman exams, care during labor and delivery, emotional and mental health support, postpartum care, and prenatal care and classes on pregnancy, birthing and breastfeeding. After your delivery, we can connect you and your baby with additional care, if needed.

High Risk Birth

Advanced care for high-risk pregnancy

Not everyone will need more care during their pregnancy, labor or delivery. But if you do, our maternal-fetal medicine (MFM) specialists work with your OB-GYN to deliver care for high-risk pregnancies and other health concerns, including high blood pressure, diabetes, heart problems and genetic disorders. Your care team will also work with you to help manage your condition after delivery. In Indianapolis, Peyton Manning Children's Hospital has a level IV NICU. In Evansville, our NICU at Peyton Manning Children's Hospital is Level III and is connected to the Women's Hospital.

Take a tour or attend a childbirth class

At Ascension St. Vincent, we’re here to answer your questions and provide support throughout and after your pregnancy.
