Whether you’re recovering from an illness or an injury, we’re here for you. Specialists at Ascension Sacred Heart provide compassionate care for your rehabilitation needs. Our team includes doctors, rehabilitation-certified nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, recreational therapists, nutritionists and respiratory therapists.

Specialists at Ascension Sacred Heart provide rehabilitation for stroke, orthopedic, neuromuscular disorders and spinal cord injuries. We also specialize in brain injury rehabilitation, including disorders of consciousness and acute brain injury rehabilitation. 

Inpatient rehabilitation facility services

Our state-of-the-art inpatient rehabilitation facility (IRF) is located on the hospital campus and is for patients who are transitioning after being discharged from the hospital. IRF is an intensive program. To be accepted, you will need to be able to actively participate in the daily schedule of therapy sessions and self-care activities. 

We work together to deliver care that is right for you. Our care team treats conditions that may affect movement, swallowing, and your ability to communicate. We help build your strength during the early stages of your recovery. Your therapy schedule is designed to help you live a more independent life.

We commonly care for adults with a variety of needs due to:

  • Acquired and traumatic brain injury
  • Amputation
  • Complex medical conditions
  • Coma or loss of consciousness
  • Spine surgery or spinal cord injury
  • Stroke or neurologic disorder

After your inpatient stay

When a health condition has a long-term recovery plan or chronic pain affects your physical and emotional health, we’re here to help. Physical medicine and rehabilitation specialists at Ascension sites of care help you manage your pain and improve your ability to do daily activities. Working together, physiatry doctors, physical therapists, occupational therapists and speech-language pathologists provide therapies to help improve the communication between your brain, muscles and nerves. We start by listening to understand you and your health concerns. Then, we work with you to create a recovery care plan that’s right for you.
