Stroke Treatment Outcomes

Ascension Alexian Brothers is a Comprehensive Stroke Center that performs emergent stroke treatments and procedures such as thrombolytic therapy and endovascular thrombectomy. With more than 400 patients admitted annually, we have the expertise to treat and care for the most complex stroke patients.

2019 2020 2021  2022  2023
Stroke patients admitted 426 432 477 455  495

Thrombolytic Therapy

Thrombolytic therapy can be given to eligible patients when their stroke symptoms are discovered within 4.5 hours of their arrival to the Emergency Room. "Time is brain," so the faster the medication is given, the better the patient outcome.

Endovascular Therapy

Endovascular therapy is now the standard of care for treatment of acute ischemic stroke due to large vessel occlusion. The goal of endovascular thrombectomy is to mechanically restore blood flow through a blocked vessel of a patient experiencing stroke symptoms.
