Services for childhood heart conditions
Your child’s heart is our priority. Our heart doctors and cardiac nurses start by listening to you, to better understand your child and their health. Then, we work with you to create a care plan that’s right for your child. As part of their care plan, we support you and provide education so you can better understand your child’s heart condition.
Our pediatric cardiovascular team delivers advanced specialty care. We care for pediatric heart conditions, including:
- Arrhythmia and other irregular heartbeats
- Atrial septal defect (ASD), also known as a hole in the heart
- Chest pain
- Congenital heart disease
- Heart murmur
- Ventricular septal defect (VSD)
- Other pediatric heart conditions and disease
Your child’s care is coordinated with their referring doctor and other care team members. And because each child has unique needs, your child’s care plan is personalized for your child and family.
For some congenital and acquired heart conditions, surgery may be recommended as part of your child’s care plan. Surgery is typically performed at UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital Congenital Heart Center in Gainesville, Florida. Here, your child will receive comprehensive surgical care from a team that includes their pediatric cardiologist.
