Rachel Marie Wester, DO, is an advanced heart failure and transplant cardiologist at Ascension Saint Thomas Heart West Comprehensive Heart Failure and Transplant Center in Nashville, Tennessee. She provides specialized care for adults with all stages of congestive heart failure, including medication management, minimally invasive cardiac procedures, heart transplantation and ventricular assist devices (VADs).
Dr. Wester’s clinical interests include heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF), cardiogenic shock, cardiac transplantation and ventricular assist devices. She is committed to providing comprehensive, individualized care for patients with complex heart failure.
Dr. Wester earned her medical degree in 2019 and completed her internal medicine residency in 2022. She then completed a general cardiology fellowship in 2025, followed by an advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology fellowship in 2026.
Dr. Wester understands that heart failure affects more than the heart -- it can influence a person’s identity, independence, family, hopes and quality of life. She listens carefully, learns what matters most to each patient and helps them make treatment decisions that align with their values and goals.
When not caring for patients, Dr. Wester enjoys wakeboarding and wake surfing, spending time with family and attending live music events.
