Roger Sandelin, MD, MBA, is an obstetrician and gynecologist (OB-GYN) at Ascension Saint Thomas in McMinnville, Tennessee. He has also served on hospital and clinic committees focused on quality improvement, perinatal safety, finance and pharmacy, contributing to initiatives that improve patient safety, clinical quality and continuity of care.

My profession means the world to me. It is not simply a job or a paycheck; it is something I love and an integral part of who I am. I believe a physician carries a profound responsibility to provide each patient with the most accurate, thoughtful and safe care possible, with the goal of improving both their health and their quality of life. I also believe an essential part of my role as a physician comes from the Latin meaning of the word ‘doctor’—to teach. I feel a responsibility to address their concerns, answer their questions and ensure their health care needs are met. Learning to connect with each patient despite these differences has helped shape the person and physician I am today and continue to strive to be.
