Douglas W. Sheffer, MD, is a cardiologist at Ascension St. Vincent in Evansville, Indiana; Carmi and McLeansboro, Illinois; and Henderson, Kentucky. He specializes in diagnosing all types of cardiovascular disease. Dr. Sheffer provides preventive cardiology care to manage high blood pressure and cholesterol, heart attack and stroke risk factors, AFib heart rhythm disorders, and congestive heart failure. Dr. Sheffer works with you to create a personalized care plan, and helps connect you to cardiac specialists if you require more care. He provides evaluation and treatment of the most complex heart conditions.

Dr. Sheffer completed his cardiology fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin. After graduating medical school at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, he went on to the University of Utah, where he completed a residency in Internal Medicine. He is the Medical Director of Cardiology and Cardiac Imaging at Ascension St. Vincent Evansville.

Dr. Sheffer is a member of the American College of Cardiology, American Society of Echocardiography, Society of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance and American Society of Nuclear Cardiology. When not caring for patients, Dr. Sheffer enjoys spending time with family and playing golf.
