Matthew D. Abbott, MD, is a pediatric orthopedic surgeon and provides personalized care for bone, muscle and joint conditions that affect children and teens. He specializes in bone fracture care and inherited bone and muscle disorders at Peyton Manning Children's in Indianapolis, Indiana. Dr. Abbott treats all aspects of pediatric orthopedics with clinical interests in spinal deformity, hip disorders, lower extremity disorders, and pediatric trauma. He delivers non-surgical and surgical treatment options. Dr. Abbott starts by listening to understand you and your child's health concerns. Then, he works with you to create a personalized care plan for your child's needs. Our pediatric orthopedic specialists are part of a national team of bone, muscle and joint care specialists, sharing best practices to diagnose and treat types of pediatric orthopedic conditions.
Dr. Abbott completed his undergraduate training at DePauw University. He received his medical degree and completed his residency training in Orthopedic Surgery at the Indiana University School of Medicine. He went on to complete a pediatric orthopedic surgery fellowship at the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in Dallas, TX. Following fellowship, he was an Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Michigan. Dr. Abbott is board certified in Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery.

Dr. Abbott has a special interest in spinal deformity, hip disorders, lower extremity disorders, and pediatric trauma. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery (AAOS), Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America (POSNA), Scoliosis Research Society (SRS), and the American Orthopaedic Association (AOA).
