Christodoulos Kaoutzanis, MD, is an independent, fellowship-trained, dual board-certified plastic surgeon at Ascension Saint Thomas in Nashville, Tennessee. Dr. Kaoutzanis specializes in aesthetic surgery and advanced breast reconstruction. His practice spans the full spectrum of aesthetic plastic surgery, including surgery of the face and neck, breasts, body, and genitalia, alongside extensive expertise in the complete array of modern advanced breast reconstruction techniques, including implant-based reconstruction, autologous (tissue-based) reconstruction such as DIEP flaps and other perforator flaps, re-sensation procedures, revision of breast reconstruction, and complex reconstructive surgery.

Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Kaoutzanis maintains a strong academic focus on clinical outcomes, patient safety, and innovation in plastic surgery. Dr. Kaoutzanis earned his medical degree from St. George's, University of London in London, England, in 2008, where he also completed an intercalated Bachelor of Science degree in Anatomy. He completed his General Surgery residency at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan, followed by his Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. He then completed advanced fellowship training in Microsurgery at NYU Langone Health and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City.

Following fellowship, Dr. Kaoutzanis joined the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Colorado, where he advanced rapidly from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor. During his tenure, he served as Director of Breast Reconstruction and co-founded the institution's microsurgery fellowship, which he went on to lead as Program Director. In these roles, he helped expand access to advanced breast reconstruction, advanced microsurgical innovation, and mentored the next generation of plastic surgeons, all while caring for patients throughout the Rocky Mountain region.
