Emergency care in Perdido Key

noviembre 19, 2025

Ascension Sacred Heart is opening a new freestanding ER in the Perdido Key.

Coming soon, residents of Escambia County will have access to quality emergency care with a new Ascension Sacred Heart emergency room. This expansion is apart of our commitment to providing accessible care with a freestanding ER in the Perdido Key area. The facility is located off of Sorrento Road or Gulf Beach Highway and is scheduled to open in early December, 2025.

“This addition ensures those who live in southwest Escambia County get the timely and quality healthcare they need,” said Sacred Heart Pensacola President & CEO Will Condon. “With our community growing, it is up to us to meet their medical needs and grow with them.”

This roughly 11,000-square-foot emergency room will include a triage area, resuscitation room, nine treatment spaces and CT and X-ray technology. Over 40 associates will work at the new care site. The ER facility will be operated by Ascension Sacred Heart Pensacola, as well as Studer Family Children’s Hospital at Ascension Sacred Heart offering care for both adults and children. If you need more advanced care, you’ll be connected to trauma care teams at our Pensacola hospital which has the region’s only Level I Trauma Center.

Ascension Sacred Heart has built two other freestanding ERs within the last six years, including in Navarre and on Nine Mile Road, highlighting the hospital’s commitment to treating those needing care in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties.

Sacred Heart has serviced the needs of the Perdido Key community, offering primary care for over 35 years. In July 2017, the health system built the first health center in the area, offering rehab, imaging, primary care, lab and specialty care. This brings personalized, compassionate healthcare to more patients across Northwest Florida.

The forthcoming Perdido freestanding ER exemplifies Ascension Sacred Heart’s mission to provide compassionate, accessible healthcare, reinforcing its role as a cornerstone of community health in Pensacola and beyond.

As the region’s population continues to grow, Ascension Sacred Heart is keeping up with the need for healthcare –building a stronger, more responsive network of care while bridging gaps in access.

"Northwest Florida is growing rapidly, and Sacred Heart is constantly exploring ways to meet the needs of our changing community," said Ascension Florida Chief Strategy Officer Michael Shaw. “Our freestanding ERs are supported by award-winning care available at Sacred Heart Pensacola and will give all those in this area who require emergency care added peace of mind.”
