Andrew S. Porter, DO

Andrew Porter, DO, is a board-certified family and sports medicine provider at Ascension Via Christi. He chose this career path because his father suffered from a massive heart attack while Dr. Porter was in high school. He saw how a doctor helped his father and saved his life. Dr. Porter says this event had such a profound impact on his family and his own life. The care his father received motivated him to devote his life to medicine.

Dr. Porter is passionate about the work he does because of Ascension Via Christi's mission and service to others in the way of Christ. Not too many people know Dr. Porter served in the US Army as a physician in Iraq for Operation: Iraqi Freedom.

For fun, he loves vacationing at Table Rock Lake and in Destin, Florida. Outside of work, Dr. Porter enjoys spending time with his wife and eight children at church, traveling and going to many sporting events. He also enjoys exercising and training for triathlons and marathons, as it is important to him that he has goals that hold accountability.
