Sameer Damle, MD

Dr. Damle specializes in Acute Care Surgery and Emergency General Surgery at Ascension Saint Agnes. He is board-certified in general surgery and fellowship-trained in hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) surgery and uses this additional training and expertise to provide comprehensive surgical care to his patients. Prior to joining Maryland Surgeons, he worked in Washington, DC and Gaithersburg, MD in a large multispecialty physician group and maintained a busy, broad-based practice in Acute Care, HPB, and Cancer Surgery. As a Clinical Assistant Professor at George Washington University, he was involved in the education of resident physicians and medical students. He received his Medical Degree from University of Minnesota Medical School in Minneapolis, MN and went on to complete a General Surgery residency at The George Washington University in Washington, DC. He subsequently completed an HPB fellowship at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, WA. As a child, Dr. Damle was fascinated by all aspects of science especially astronomy and biology. His exposure to medicine came early as he would often accompany his father, a Cardiothoracic surgeon, on weekend rounds. He saw firsthand how patients can be healed with a successful operation and observed the importance of diligent and compassionate post-operative care. Since medical school, he has worked in academic, urban community, and rural settings and enjoys caring for patients during all stages of their illness.
