Abhishek Kalla, MD

Abhishek Kalla, MD, considers himself a well-traveled and cultured person as he was raised in seven different countries by the time he was a junior in high school. As a result, he feels like he has learned how to connect with people of different backgrounds. He eventually called Augusta, Georgia his home, where he completed his internal medicine residency and hematology/oncology fellowship. He is comfortable taking care of a variety of cancers (with the exception of breast cancer), with a focus on multiple myeloma, and has an interest in hematology (malignant and non-malignant). He has a life-long love of teaching, which he continues with an active role in the education of medical students and internal medicine residents at Ascension Saint Agnes. Outside the hospital, he has a passion for photography and skiing, enjoys cycling, reading, cooking, and loves to travel with his family. His thoughts on his journey through medicine are summarized best in a quote by him: “Only with a passion for one’s work, comes the desire to excel in it… and only with compassion comes the ability to be selfless in it...”
