Nishtha Sareen, MD

Nishtha Sareen, MD, is an interventional cardiologist at Ascension Medical Group in Saginaw, Michigan specializing in heart catheterization and minimally invasive heart care. She performs procedures to restore blood flow to the heart. Dr. Sareen starts by listening to understand you and your health concerns. She works with our multidisciplinary cardiologists to create a care plan that's right for you. Our cardiovascular specialists are part of an integrated, national network of heart care, sharing best practices and offering evaluation and treatment of the most complex heart conditions.

There's a lot to think about when deciding to have heart surgery. Dr. Sareen is here for you. She is part of our cardiac surgery care team, specializing in minimally invasive heart and vascular surgery. Dr. Sareen performs interventional cardiology procedures to help prevent heart attack and stroke, including opening clogged coronary arteries (angioplasty, with balloon or stent). 

Dr. Sareen completed medical school clinics with high honors at Harvard Medical School and completed her internal medicine residency training at Hofstra North Shore Hospital in New York. She was a chief cardiology fellow at St. Joseph Mercy Oakland hospital and trained for Interventional Cardiology at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York, one of the top ten training programs in the country. Dr. Sareen furthered her education by receiving a Masters in Public Health from the University of Nevada. 

Dr. Sareen has been appointed faculty at various hospitals throughout the state and is very passionate about education and is involved in many committees and task forces. She is co-chair, for the Educational Webinars, WIN with the Society for Coronary Angiography and Interventions. She is an editor for clinician well-being web page with the American College of Cardiology and part of the Hypertension Working Committee Preventive WorkForce with the American College of Cardiology. Dr. Sareen is one of the elected advocacy representatives for American College of Cardiology in the State of Michigan. She serves on the committee for racial disparity by the American College of Cardiology.  Dr. Sareen serves as the medical director for the Ascension Women Heart Center at Providence Southfield and will be bringing this role to Ascension St. Mary's in Saginaw.
