Hema Vankayala, MD, is board-certified in medical oncology and hematology and practices at Cancer Specialists of North Florida's (CSNF) Fleming Island location. Originally from India, Dr. Vankayala earned her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from Guntur Medical College in Andhra Pradesh, India. She went on to complete her residency and fellowship at Wayne State University/Karmanos Cancer Center in Detroit, Michigan, before joining CSNF.

Honored to be a member of CSNF’s multidisciplinary team, Dr. Vankayala counts it a privilege to works with people who value research and compassion as much as she does.

Dr. Vankayala’s philosophy is to be candid about the diseases her patients are facing and provide realistic hope in a compassionate way. She believes that involving the patients and their families in the treatment discussions and decisions is critical and will help them prepare to actively participate in the cancer care process. When not in the office, Dr. Vankayala enjoys being outdoors and spending time with her family.
