After receiving care from Ascension Sacred Heart Women's Care Center, Keshuna Grant was inspired to find a job on the team that cared for her.

After experiencing the heartache of losing her third pregnancy, Keshuna Grant turned to the Ascension Sacred Heart Pensacola / UF Health Women's Care Center in Pensacola, FL, for follow-up care. From her first interaction, she felt embraced by the staff's kindness, marking the beginning of a journey filled with hope, support and a place she would call "home."

"I remember everyone greeting me and making me feel welcomed from the moment I entered the doors," she said. "It was the best feeling in the world and I wanted to be a part of it."

Keshuna, who had worked from home for three years during the pandemic, was ready for a change. She recently became a certified medical administrative assistant and said working at the Women's Care Center was her dream job.

She made the most of her biweekly appointments at the center by asking anyone who would listen how she could work there. Her persistence paid off. By her third appointment, she spoke with Angela Williams, manager of the Women's Care Center.

"I was wearing a tank top and jeans, not exactly interview attire, but I wasn't going to miss my chance," she said. "Angela asked me why I wanted to work here. I told her the center was the most friendly environment I had ever been in. I felt like I was home."

Now, sitting on the other side of the desk as an office operations assistant, Keshuna feels blessed to help women experiencing similar situations as her own. She recalled how she comforted a woman who miscarried.

"I cried with her and let her know it was going to be okay," Keshuna said. I told her not to give up, and it would happen when it was meant to."

Woman with cancer speaks with her doctor. She has followed her own advice. After three miscarriages, Keshuna is expecting her first baby on Nov. 29, the day after Thanksgiving. She attributes this milestone to the nurturing, healing work environment at the Women's Care Center.

"I have never made it past eight weeks," she said. I truly believe it is the people here—the doctors, the nurse practitioners, everyone here—who have poured so much into me. I am forever grateful."
