Dermatologists at Ascension Seton treat skin, hair and nail conditions. Our dermatology clinics provide a variety of skin tests to diagnose rashes, moles, skin allergies, food allergies, bacterial or fungal skin infections, and other diseases. Skin surgery
Our surgeons are experts in Mohs and dermatologic surgery, cutaneous oncology and surgical reconstruction. If you have skin cancer, we work with your doctor to create a unique care plan. Mohs surgical techniques and skin biopsy procedures are used to treat many types of skin conditions, including the surgical removal of:
- Skin cancer (basal cell carcinoma, melanoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and other rare tumors)
- Cosmetic removal of non-cancerous moles and cysts
Non-surgical treatments
Advanced laser and cosmetic treatments are used to improve skin health and appearance. We treat sun-damaged skin, remove unwanted hair, help reduce acne scarring, wrinkles, discoloration and more. For anti-aging and rejuvenation, injectable treatments such as BOTOX® and dermal fillers are available.
- Cryotherapy - We commonly use cryotherapy, for lesions such as warts and precancerous growths. This treatment uses liquid nitrogen to “freeze off” growths. While it does not work for all types of skin growths, this is a quick and safe method of getting rid of specific lesions.
- Topical treatments - These treatments are applied directly to the skin and are used to treat a variety of conditions. The primary benefit of topical medications is that they generally have fewer side effects than systemic medications. Commonly prescribed topicals range from simple over-the-counter acne medication to a prescription cream used to treat inflammatory conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.
- Systemic treatments - These treatments include oral or injectable medications. Systemic medications are often needed when the skin condition is particularly widespread or severe. Systemic steroids, for example, can be used to treat inflammatory conditions such as eczema or allergic contact dermatitis and may be given in the form of pills or an injection.
