Non-surgical skin treatments

Plastic surgeons at Ascension Saint Agnes provide non-surgical cosmetic treatments, such as BOTOX®, Kybella®, fillers, laser treatments and more.

Injectable treatments

Plastic surgeons at Ascension Saint Anges Plastic Surgery perform all Injectable procedures themselves. Our doctors have the understanding of the facial anatomy that is required to help get the best results from these procedures.

Fillers:

Patients should plan to spend 30-60 minutes after arrival with topical numbing cream prior to injection.  Bruising is possible with any injection, and is more common with treatment in the lip area. Treatment takes 15-45 minutes depending on product and areas treated.

Juvéderm® XC Plus and Ultra Plus:

For correction of Nasolabial folds, Marionette lines, and lip enhancement.

Juvéderm® Voluma:

Excellent for volume enhancement of cheeks & malar areas of the face.

Radiesse®:

Thicker filler used to correct or enhance cheek & malar areas of the face.

Sculptra®:

Helps stimulate your skin’s own natural collagen production to help increase facial volume that has been lost from natural aging.

Bellafill®:

Long term correction of Nasolabial folds or smile lines and can be used to improve acne scars.

KYBELLA®:

Used in adults to improve the appearance and profile of moderate to severe fat below the chin also called “double chin.”

Neuromodulators:

No need for early arrival for topical anesthetic; treatment takes 15-20 minutes.

BOTOX®:

BOTOX will temporarily freeze facial muscle and correct frown lines in the forehead and glabellar area as well as crow’s feet around the eyes. Results last for approximately 3 months.

Laser treatments

Intense pulsed light

Intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy can help remove years of sun damage and improve the look of your skin without the need for surgery. IPL provides photorejuvenation treatments, which are ideal for people who have a goal of refining skin texture and evening out skin discoloration caused by sun damage, aging, acne, rosacea, damaged blood vessels, enlarged pores or fine lines.

Laser Genesis

Laser Genesis is one of our most asked-about treatment options. Genesis uses low levels of laser energy to gently heat layers of tissue in the dermis. The rising temperature breaks up oil and dirt, rebuilds collagen and evens out skin tone. Genesis is a treatment option that resurfaces the face by stimulating the skin with laser pulses.

This laser-induced heat also has the added benefit of improving skin texture and tone through increased production of collagen and elastin – two vital proteins that help the skin maintain its structure. If your skin has lost its youthful qualities and you’re seeking to refresh your appearance with minimal recovery time, try adding Laser Genesis skin resurfacing to your regimen. You will notice an improvement in the quality of your skin almost immediately.

Vascular laser

As we age, our veins tend to become more prominent. Through laser treatment, we can lessen the appearance of these veins. Vein therapy can address noticeable veins on your face or legs as an alternative to surgical treatment.

During your vein treatment, pulses of light energy are delivered to the targeted vein. Your blood vessels will absorb this energy, while the surrounding skin remains untouched. The heat from the laser causes the blood to coagulate and destroys the blood vessel.

Lasers also allow us to treat angiomas, scars, and stretch marks with minimal downtime. Unlike surgical procedures that only make superficial changes to your skin, laser treatment goes a step further to stimulate the skin’s natural ability to regenerate collagen and elastin. You will notice an ongoing improvement in the texture and quality of your skin after just one session.

Laser hair removal

Laser hair removal has become one of the most popular non-invasive cosmetic procedures. It works by directing targeted pulses of light into hair follicles. The pigment in the follicles absorbs this light, which damages the follicles and slows future hair growth – all while leaving the surrounding skin untouched.

Since this procedure targets the melanin in hair follicles, it is most effective for people with lighter skin and darker hair, although advanced technology has now made laser hair removal an option for individuals with darker skin tones. Though you can get laser hair removal anywhere on your body, the most common areas where people request treatment include their legs, underarms, upper lip, chin, back, ears and bikini line.

Frequently asked questions about laser treatments

  • Am I a good candidate for laser skin treatments?

If you are dealing with unwelcome sun damage, wrinkles, scars, stretch marks, body hair, and prominent veins, you may be a candidate for laser skin resurfacing. If your skin is prone to scarring easily, or if you currently have acne, laser skin treatment may not be a good option for you.

Pregnant women should not undergo laser skin treatment. People with darker skin tones might also want to consider a different solution to these challenges, as the laser treatment can trigger changes in skin pigmentation. You can schedule an in-person consultation and evaluation before undergoing laser skin care to make sure it’s the right treatment option for you.

  • Is laser treatment safe for my skin tone?

Laser treatments are safe for many skin types and colors, but some patients with darker skin tones or heavily tanned skin may not be good candidates. During your consultation, we’ll help you choose an effective treatment. If laser isn’t your best option, we have many other options available.

  • How many laser hair removal treatments will I need?

Laser hair removal can only target hair in the active growing phase. Since hair cycles through growth and dormancy phases at different rates, you’ll have hair in every cycle of growth on your body at the same time. We perform multiple laser hair removal treatments to target each hair at the correct time. The total number of treatments needed will depend on several factors, but most patients will require three to seven treatments.

  • Is laser treatment painful?

Depending on the laser treatment selected, you may feel sensations during treatment that include tingling, snapping or heat. We use topical anesthetics during some laser treatments to numb the skin and make you as comfortable as possible during your procedure. If discomfort is a possible side effect of your treatment, ask us about options to minimize any pain you might feel without detracting from your results.

  • What skin conditions can lasers treat?

At Ascension Saint Agnes Plastic Surgery, we use cosmetic lasers to treat a wide range of skin concerns, including sun damage, wrinkles, unwanted hair, vascular conditions, spider veins, stretch marks, and uneven skin tone. Please schedule an appointment at one of our two offices to learn more about the treatments available.

Profound® Radiofrequency Microneedling

Profound® helps to reverse the signs of aging by combining the effects of microneedling and radiofrequency therapy. The precise placement of tiny needles to create microscopic punctures in the skin causes your body’s healing process to kick into high gear, promoting new cell growth and the production of collagen, hyaluronic acid, and elastin. Meanwhile, a burst of heat energy from the radiofrequency penetrates deeper into the skin and causes it to tighten. The result is smoother and firmer skin.

Profound microneedling can produce rejuvenating results without incisions or sutures. Patients who are concerned about fine lines, wrinkles, skin sagging, and cellulite can enjoy the outstanding results this convenient, minimally invasive treatment option provides.
