About
Dr. Eric Veilleux is a board certified general surgeon who specializes in minimally invasive laparoscopic and robotic techniques. He completed a fellowship in Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (Weight Loss Surgery) at the Chicago Institute of Advanced Surgery with Dr. Rami Lutfi who is recognized internationally for his surgical research, education, and contribution to the field.
Dr. Veilleux is passionate about weight loss; he is committed to understanding the latest in obesity knowledge, treatment, and techniques. He has published in multiple surgical journals, given lectures, and attended yearly national meetings on the subject of surgical care for the obese individual. Dr. Veilleux also specializes in foregut surgery, performing hiatal hernia/paraesophageal hernia repair and anti-reflux procedures. He says, Obesity and reflux go hand in hand. With the extra weight and pressure on the stomach, obese patients have some of the greatest risk factors for developing reflux disease. I focus my practice on the treatment of both conditions.”
Dr. Veilleux believes in educating his patients fully on their surgical problem and discussing all surgical options as well as the alternatives. He acknowledges that each patient has a unique life story and what may be the right choice for some is not always the right choice for all.
Outside of the hospital, Dr. Veilleux enjoys being active outdoors and spends time running, hiking, and skiing. He enjoys learning about new technology and spending time with his wife and two cats. He pronounces his last name Vay-yer.”
