The Ascension St. Vincent Critical Care Transport team serves all patient populations and demographics in Indiana. Our Ascension Transfer Center is open 24/7 to coordinate requests for critical care transport by ground or air. Our critical care transport program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems (CAMTS) for Critical Care, ALS, and BLS services for:

 

Neonatal – A newborn or patient less than 28 days of age

Pediatric – A patient more than 28 days of age up to 17 years of age, or 15 years of age for a trauma patient

Maternal-Fetal – A pregnant patient with a gestational age of 23 weeks or greater

Adult – A patient 18 years and older except for trauma, which is a patient 16 years of age and older

Information needed about your patient before air or ground transport

Our Critical Care Transport team needs the following information in preparation for the transport team’s arrival:


  • Copy of complete patient chart
  • Hospital - patient face sheets - two copies
  • Physician transport summary
  • Copy of X-ray or other imaging on CD or duplicates, if not available on cloud
  • One full page of patient labels
  • Copy of EMTALA form
  • Additional newborn documents and information, including maternal prenatal, antepartum, and labor and delivery records

    Ascension St. Vincent Critical Care Transport in Indianapolis, Indiana, is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems (CAMTS) for Critical Care, ALS, and BLS services. 

    • CAMTS accreditation is the highest accreditation in the medical transport industry.
    • CAMTS requires clinicians to obtain and maintain advanced certifications pertinent to transport and specific patient care demographics.
    • Our Critical Care Transport team reports operational and clinical metrics to a national database for continuous quality improvement.

    The Commission [on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems] believes that the two highest priorities of an air medical or ground inter-facility transport service are patient care and safety of the transport environment.
