Rehabilitation and recovery care for orthopedic and neurologic conditions

Ascension Wisconsin - Elmbrook Medical Arts Center offers many rehabilitation services for children and adults. Our care team includes occupational therapists, physical therapists and speech-language pathologists. We listen to understand you and your health concerns. Then, we work with you to create a recovery care plan that’s right for you.

Rehabilitation services focus on injury care and managing chronic pain and illness

Occupational therapists provide therapies to promote independence and safety with daily activities as a result of orthopedic injury, surgery, neurological changes, and other new or existing long-term conditions.

Physical therapists work with patients to restore mobility and safety navigating their environments following an orthopedic injury, surgery, neurological changes, pain, dizziness and other new or long-term conditions.

Speech-language pathologists focus on therapies to help improve swallowing, voice, memory loss and problem-solving skills.

Many of our licensed therapists deliver specialized therapies and have additional training and certifications. We provide treatments that help improve function, mobility, swelling, and chronic pain to help you perform everyday activities with ease.

At Ascension Wisconsin - Elmbrook Medical Arts Center, we have certified therapists for:

  • Dry needling (CMTPT)
  • Hand therapy (CHT)
  • Lymphedema therapy (CLT) for cancer care and general swelling management
  • VitalStim(R) dysphagia treatments for swallowing disorders

And rehabilitation specialists in:

  • Golf swing analysis (Titleist Level 1)
  • Migraine headache and chronic pain management
  • Myofascial cupping for soft tissue restrictions
  • Pediatric therapy for children with communication, swallowing, orthopedic, and developmental disorders
  • Sports injury rehabilitation and performance
  • Vestibular therapy for adults with balance disorders, such as vertigo

In Wisconsin, patients have direct access to physical, occupational, and speech therapy with some provisions. Referral is not required with most insurances for conditioning, injury prevention, improving biomechanics, and treating musculoskeletal injuries (excluding acute fractures or soft tissue avulsions).

A state-of-the-art rehabilitation therapy center close to home

Our outpatient therapy clinic offers a healing environment with specialized equipment and therapies for your recovery. Our care team is here to support you. We educate you about your condition and create a personalized care plan that may include home exercises. Then, we celebrate your progress.

Our therapists treat a range of injuries and health conditions affecting every part of the body and offer specialized care that supports your physical and emotional health for:

Therapists specializing in chronic pain management

Our physical therapists and occupational therapists specialize in treating migraines, headaches, and chronic pain to help you manage your symptoms. Our therapists address your physical and emotional health with personalized therapies and exercises to help improve your quality of life.

Certified Hand Therapists

Certified hand therapists (CHTs) have specialized training to identify, assess and treat hand, elbow and arm injuries, including carpal tunnel syndrome. Hand therapists understand the intricate structures of the hand and arm and work closely with your doctor to provide a customized treatment plan for your condition. They specialize in making custom splints designed to protect your healing injury or to aid in restoring lost motion due to stiffness.

Vestibular Rehabilitation

Vestibular therapists evaluate balance disorders and help determine the cause of your dizziness. We treat central and peripheral vestibular disorders, such as BPPV, vestibular hypofunction, vestibular neuritis, and vestibular migraines. Our therapists also provide post-concussion management. Our therapists work with your primary care doctor, neurologist, and ENT to manage your symptoms and improve your oculomotor reflexes and balance.

Sports injury rehabilitation and sports performance training

Our therapists specialize in sports injury care for teens and active adults. We provide personalized care plans for your sport and health goals. We teach you how to prevent overuse injuries from repetitive movements. Our therapy clinic includes a rehab gym with a variety of targeted, performance training equipment. We focus on your performance goals and provide support to help improve your overall fitness, strength, agility, and speed.

Cancer support with lymphedema therapy and fitness

Rehabilitation therapists work with your cancer care team to help improve your physical and emotional recovery. We have therapists who specialize in lymphedema therapy for localized swelling. At our therapy clinic, we customize your therapeutic exercises to help you reduce fatigue and build strength. Our speech-language therapists treat swallowing problems and memory loss related to chemotherapy or radiation therapy.

New pre-pay program for rehabilitation services

Don’t let rapidly changing healthcare insurance plans stop you from getting the physical therapy, occupational therapy, or speech-language services you need. The Ascension Wisconsin Rehabilitation pre-pay program enables you to pay for services rendered with check, cash or credit card. This option provides greater flexibility for patients with different types of insurance coverage, such as a plan with:

  • A high deductible
  • Limited therapy visits
  • Services not covered, like dry needling and some pediatric therapies

Our program is self-pay based on your needs at that time and if available to patients of all ages.
