Menopause Management

Menopause is an important transition in every woman’s life.

It may come suddenly, after a hysterectomy with removal of the ovaries, or it may occur gradually, usually between the ages of 45 to 55. Many quality of life issues are affected by the menopausal transition:

  • Mood
  • Menstrual cycles
  • Sleep
  • Foggy thinking
  • Fatigue
  • Weight gain
  • Hot flashes and night sweats

As a woman progresses through menopause, other issues begin to emerge: sexual difficulty or decreased desire, and decreasing bone density and the need to monitor for signs of osteoporosis.

Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT)

Many women have questions about the risks and benefits of hormone replacement therapy (HRT). The prevailing opinions surrounding HRT changed dramatically after the publication of the Women’s Health Initiative in 2001. We will be glad to discuss these findings in detail with you and find the best therapy for any symptoms that may be bothersome to you.
